23 Taliban killed in Swat and Bajaur

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD/KHAR: Security forces arrested four Taliban while raiding hideouts in the Akhoordil area of Dara Adam Khel. The Taliban opened fire on police officials during the arrest, injuring four children.

Thirteen militants were also killed in a clash with a tribal lashkar in the Charmang area of Bajaur, ARY One World reported, and five militants were killed in an air strike carried out by security forces in the Mamound area.

Separately, a jirga in Bajaur Agency on Friday ruled it was necessary to act against the Taliban. According to Geo News, an emergency meeting was held in Chaarmang last night at the hujra of Mohammad Rehman. The meeting ruled tribesmen would take action against foreigners and local militants, and raise a lashkar for this purpose. After the meeting, orders were given to set fire to the houses of Taliban.

Meanwhile, the bodies of four Qaumi Lashkar members have been recovered from Tungi.

Separately, four Taliban were killed when security forces pounded their hideouts in the Rashakai, Tang Khata, Khazana and Kauser areas of Bajaur. The forces jets’ also bombed Taliban hideouts in Mamoond tehsil but no casualties were reported. Lashkars from Mamoond and Mandal tribes also continued their operation and burnt several Taliban houses.
